About

EPIC Indoor Percussion was started in December of 2023. In our first season we participated in KIDA and TIA in the Independent A class and had an undefeated season, finishing the KIDA Championships in Chambersburg, PA , and winning Independent A class. Our first season was wildly successful and due to that and the large amount of interest, the decision was made to take the leap in 2025 and join WGI and also expand into the New York State Percussion Circuit. In 2025 we competed at our first WGI regional in Virginia and won the Independent A class title at that show, prompting us to be moved to Independent Open class from there on out. In that season we also won Independent Open class titles in the New York State Percussion Circuit and TIA. In 2026 we will be going to 2 WGI regionals seeing many other groups in our class, as well as going to NYSPC and TIA championships. As we grow through out the seasons it has been our priority to mix the arts with education to make amazing percussionists, all while keeping a moderate cost for what we offer. It is our mission to grow the interest, awareness, participation, and positive representation of the marching percussion activity in central PA and the northeast region!

We do things a little differently than other groups. We generally limit our rehearsals to Saturdays with the full ensemble, and we have a rotation of “Sectional Sunday” rehearsals where each member has off for 2 Sundays and then has a sectional rehearsal every 3rd Sunday. This allows for time to pick up some shifts to work, or to keep up with school work and balance their outside responsibilities. We do not do any weekday rehearsals with a few exceptions for finals week and the week between Christmas and New Years we have our “mini-camp” where we learn the show. Very occasionally there might be a Friday night if we’re going somewhere early or far the next day. We do supplement our rehearsals with logical video assignments that are focused on specific goals we’re working on that tie in with what we’re doing at in-person rehearsals. Any members traveling in from a long distance we offer housing on Friday nights prior to rehearsals if needed, and after rehearsals on Saturdays or any late Sundays we have. We don’t want anyone traveling while they’re exhausted.

2024 – You Can Count On Me

EPIC Indoor Percussion was founded in the fall of 2023 making 2024 their first competitive season ever!

Our show is titled You Can Count On Me, which is about how numbers and math connect everything, especially in what we do as percussionists. We all have to do our part, counting, communicating with each other, subdividing. We have to count on each other to bring it all together.

2025 – Stripes

After winning the Richmond WGI Regional in A Class, it was apparent that in 2025 EPIC Indoor Percussion was on the rise and growing in maturity and skill from the previous season, and was bumped up to the Independent Open Class for the remainder of the season in all circuits we compete in.

Our show in 2025 is called Stripes. In a world of infinite variations there are certain patterns that capture our curiosity. Within them there is a hidden language written across our world, and within ourselves. Our instincts, a hidden beast within all of us. Will we let the beast run wild and wreak havoc on the world around us? Or will we tame the beast and put it into submission? Or.. will we learn to control the beast and let it out when needed to reach our full potential? In 2025, we show our stripes!

2026 – HiveMind

“HiveMind” explores the chilling erosion of the individual in an era of technological saturation. The production follows five visual signals, vibrant, predatory entities representing carriers of “the message” as they infiltrate a society of humans.
These signals act as conductors of group-think, using rhythmic pulses and hypnotic movement to brainwash the ensemble into a drone-like state of total, unthinking synchronization.
The show opens with the grinding, mechanical energy of “Copy of a…” by Nine Inch Nails, establishing the theme and the loss of the “original” self. This transitions into original compositions by Ryan Reed and Marc Garside, which provide the complex, layered percussion textures of a society in flux, resembling dopamine hits replacing real emotions, fake happiness. The show culminates in “HiveMind” by Thomas Lofgreen, a piece that serves as the sonic realization of the collective consciousness taking full control.
