EPIC Indoor Percussion?
About us
EPIC Indoor is operated by EPIC Percussion. EPIC percussion is a team of educators and percussion experts from the Williamsport, PA region. There we operate an academy of over 60 students. Our team brings a wealth of knowledge and experience designing and teaching for high school ensembles and WGI, DCA, and DCI ensembles for almost 20 years.
Our goal with EPIC Indoor Percussion is to offer a unique experience and an accessible and affordable training pathway to higher performance levels for students in the central PA region. To participate in this ensemble performers must be between the ages of 14 and 21 years old.
Our plan for the first year is to stay relatively local, competing in KIDA and TIA shows across the region between Williamsport and the Harrisburg area. We plan to grow into an ensemble that will compete in WGI down the road, but we want to ensure our financial stability and structures are in place before committing to that, and we want to keep costs down as much as possible.
We are looking for members from the area of all experience levels! We ask that students coming in be open minded to trying different instruments if asked, and to trying new techniques and styles that they might not be used to. The percussion education situation in our region varies greatly from school to school. We don’t want anyone to feel unwelcome or unprepared, we want to teach you. However, we ask that you come in with a teachable attitude!
One of our goals for this ensemble, is to help promote and improve on the percussion skills and knowledge of students in the region. We are very supportive of scholastic music programs! We hope to earn the support of the scholastic programs in the area as something that complements and supports their programs, and we hope you encourage your students to participate in EPIC Indoor! A rising tide raises all ships!
It is also important to note that our primary mission is to coach students to becoming great adults. Leaders in society that make the world around them better. In this activity, more than just about anything else out there, we are only as strong as our weakest link. This has much more to do with work ethic and commitment than it does with talent. We can’t make an ensemble great if members are missing rehearsals. If you work hard and are consistently present, we will teach how to play!
